The La Negra Pasos Libres World Championship is one of the most prestigious Latin dance championships in the world. Every year, competitors from more than 20 countries gather in Calpe (Alicante, Spain) to compete on the floor and on stage, before a jury of international salsa and bachata stars.
"Pasos libres" (free steps) means freedom of style: each dancer or group performs their own choreography and personality. There is no single mould — the winner is whoever best combines technique, musicality, staging and emotion.
